As we have now added a Book category to this forum, all topics must start with either 'MOV:' for movies, 'TV:' for TV shows, or 'LIT:' for literature items.
You'll notice that when you go to make a new topic, all three will be in the topic title by default. Remove the inappropriate ones and then make the title.
I'll go through and edit some on the front page as an illustrative example.

So i saw this last night, and visually it was stunning. Everything looked fabulous. But I was seriously confused regarding the plot. Like I get that
>> Spoiler!!! Rollover to view / Click to hide <<
Sweet Pea did get out, but what was up with the whole club plot? I mean I was legitimately confused about that whole situation.
Nothing I'd pay admission to see, but I'll get it on BluRay when it comes out, and catch it on TV.
And the actor who played Blue was really hot

So the
final trailer is out and I'm sooo fucking excited. It looks really intense.
I'm reading all of the books over, hopefully in time for the movie. It's so strange because I haven't read them in ages, and yet I still get really happy with news (like the movie).

I freaking loooooove this show!! It's more interesting than I thought would be at first glance, but it's definitely awesome.
For the people who watch it, who's your favorite queen? Mine is Ongina.
Which brings me to my next point, which is a spoiler....
>> Spoiler!!! Rollover to view / Click to hide <<
When I watched the newest episode, I almost cried when Ongina won the Viva Glam competition and admitted she had HIV. I think it was a really powerful episode for everyone on there.

I performed a search and did not see a topic for PR anywhere. I was amazed! So, discuss the awesome-ness of this show! Favorite season, designer, outfit, the amazing man that is Tim Gunn, or whatever else fits your fancy! Season 4 starts soon, and I'm beyond excited. Anyone else ready?

Wow, I just watched this, and I must say it was a wholly refreshing experience. The kids did a really great job, and the scenery was just perfect. And after all this Twilight business, it's so great to see a REAL vampire movie about. You know, where they actually catch fire in the light and stuff. Absolutely brilliant. And I thought Kirsten Dunst made a good little girl vampire in Interview With The Vampire. Heh, I was wrong.
Any thoughts?

Such a badass movie. Any thoughts?
They package this movie in the previews like a straight up comedy, which it is not! Its like Superbad mixed with The Dark Knight. Incredibly vulgar and violent. Its the best movie this year so far and easily better than any movie last year IMO.
And Hit Girl was clearly the MVP of the movie LOL! Hearing a 12 yr. old say 'cunt' and brutally kill 100 people might be the greatest thing ever.

I expected this movie to be shit, especially with everyone's terrible mismatched accents...
BUT HOLD GOD WAS I WRONG.
I'm seeing it again tomorrow.

Discuss.
(Also, Jake G. Thanks for making one of my favorite characters hot as shit.)
>> Spoiler!!! Rollover to view / Click to hide <<
Well, I'll explain that a little better. I never actually played Sands of Time. Just the 360 Prince of Persia. Which I lovelovelove. And I love the prince in that game (who has no name, oddly enough). But the way Jake played Dastan was very much like that character.

just saw this movie, it was pretty good. sort of black comedy/drama mix of a guy who just gets out of prison and wants to kill the kicker for the bills. he picks up this girl and shenanigans and sorrow ensue. if you're up for an indieish movie, you should really check it out.

I was a little surprised at how good it was. Like, I'm willing to see it again.
It's hard to find good child actors, but this movie did. I guess it helps having two actor parents (who also produced the moive). And Jaden's a cute kid, too.
Only thing that bothered me was the focus. There were a few shots were the focus just missed. Like in a scene with Jackie Chan sitting in a car, there's a medium-close up of him through the windshield, and it's not the junk on the windshield, or his face that's in focus--it's the headrest right behind him. There's a couple of shots like this that I noticed, but otherwise, it's pretty great. And they included production stills during the credits, which I wanted to stay for, but the people I was with were getting impatient.
At first I had my misgivings about it being the karate kid, being that this kid is in China and learning kung fu. I'm still a little uncertain as to why they kept the original title, but once the story picked up (which is pretty quickly), it's easy to not care about the title.

Talk about how fucking bad this remake is.
I will not tolerate liking this movie in this thread, unless you're referring to the glory that's the original. Ha.
I just. Can't get over how bad it was. I had low expectations to begin with, as this has been my all time favorite since I was a kid. But oh my god. It was worse than the Friday the 13th remake.
The only good parts were:
Emmet from Twilight slitting his own throat.
The hot guy from Jennifer's Body.
A scene where the main female character is running down the hallway, and the floor suddenly turns into a blood swamp.
That's it.
The movie's only an hour and a half, and it couldn't be over fast enough.
Also, fuck this Freddy all over the place. He was trying too hard to have a creepy voice and just sounded like a douche.

Originally I thought it would be a straight-up adaptation, but it looks like it's more like a continuation. From what I read, it looks like this movie is supposed to take place about ten years after the original story, making Alice 17.
The cast is looking pretty awesome, too. By now, everybody knows that Johnny Depp is playing the Mad Hatter. Also featured are Helena Bonham Carter (the Red Queen), Anne Hathaway (the White Queen), Alan Rickman (the Caterpillar), and Christopher Lee (the Jabberwock).

Alice in Wonderland / Through the Looking Glass for the first time, and I'm very curious to see how this plays out. It's been years since I've watched the Disney animated version; I should probably rewatch that.

I'm completely and utterly obsessed with this show. The characters, the mysteries, all of it. The writing is phenominal, the acting is spot on, and everything comes together perfectly.
I also love how people complain it never answers any questions, when it really is constantly answering them. They just don't circle the answers and go "LOOK, HERE'S THE ANSWER!". They give the answer, and let you connect the dots for yourself. It's so much more rewarding than having some character explain every single thing.
Who's with me?

The only shows I watch on TV are House and this one. Stories are really interesting and the puzzles are compelling to solve throughout, I think it's really underrated though, it's hardly ever mentioned as far as I can tell. But it's literally one of the only remaining TV shows I enjoy to watch.

My new favorite books ever.
I picked up the first book in the airport before leaving for China, and finished it the day after I arrived... and then ended up buying the next two books in the series in Beijing at a foreign books store. Now i've finished those, and i'm re reading the first three again until we go back to Beijing so I can buy the rest of the series.
These books are hilarious, and so incredibly easy to read... even though theres hardly an actual plot in any of the books. The humor is right up my alley.
What do you guys think?

fucking amazing sall i can say. holy shit. It has a perfect balance mongst uncompromising action/gore (pretty much interchangeable here), comedy, and wonderful sharp stylish storytelling. Tarantino is the fuckin man.
best movie I've seen all year
it's like a postmodern WWII film...there are so many meta-film(?) elements, anachronisms, and so much sharp dialogue. I was enthralled. so stubbornly Tarantino, goddammit, this has gotta be my fav of his oeuvre by far.

(these go for the music too)
"I think this might be my masterpiece..." (or something)
damn right
it's an action/drama/pseudo-political movie about movies

Ok this show is amazing. I know Ian knows its awesome, but more people should check it out. Its getting huge word of mouth promotion. Season 1 just ended and was only 6 episodes so its pretty easy to catch up on. Its hilariously crude yet is a pretty serious drama at the same time.

Wiki summary:
QUOTE
Misfits is a British live-action superhero comedy-drama about a group of young offenders forced to work in a community service programme, where they become imbued with supernatural powers after a strange electrical storm.
Its kinda weird that they call them superheros cause that's not what I would call them. But they have special powers.
But since you can not watch it live here in the US (I'm assuming) you can find places to watch the episodes or download them. I know we can't post downloads here but holla at me on Twitter/Facebook/PM and I can point you in the direction. If you are in the UK you can stream the episodes

Anyone else love HBO's True Blood? I absolutely adore it. I've been watching and loving it since season 1 started, and I can't wait for the season 2 finale this Sunday. Even though the market has been oversaturated with vampires lately (which has annoyed me to no end), I can't help but be addicted to this show! It's a refreshing take on vampire lore. So yeah, discuss it's awesomeness!

I thought this might be an interesting thread topic....
Name some (and explain why, if you're so inclined) books that you really enjoyed until you had to read them for school.
My example here is Moby Dick, which I thought was a really great read when I burned through it at the beginning of high school, but after being tied to the back of a rowboat and drug through it during my AP Literature class... I just can't stand it now. The teacher took what I initially found to be a really great story, and made us sift through an onion's worth of layers of symbolism all the while nit picking at things I just didn't think were worth much thought at all.

Yeah, disucss the show that is pretty much the best drama on TV each and every week. Hardly ever tosses up a lame duck of an episode, and is having its strongest season yet.
Also, Houseisms.
