Listened to it all day today. God, I can't believe it's been an entire year since my best friend and I got it at midnight and spent all night driving around randomly to listen to the whole thing. I hadn't heard it in a while. I almost got that same feeling I got that night.
It's not my favorite musically (or at all, actually), but I swear sometimes that they read my diary lyrically.

I rarely listen to it. Just doesn't click with me. Same with DU, I never listen to it. Also every time I do listen to it (when a song comes on shuffle or something), I get reminded of having swine flu, because it arrived in the mail exactly at the time that I had swine flu last year. Ew.

I only ever heard this album 2 times. I honestly forgot it even came out. It's not that I don't like it, I actually like it a lot. I just kind of forgot about it with the overwhelming number of other artists and releases that have been higher on my priority list the past year.
Listening again now, and it's still totally a really fun and enjoyable album. Nothing special, but a good time for sure.

i think its a great album. and i loved seeing them live which is probably why i like the album so, because of the memory. i can/have listen to it on repeat all day or for days. jeez that was a quick year.
Lets see. First I hated the album. Saw the webcast of the show they did at the Roxy I think and the songs came off so much better live. I honestly think the production on the album blows. Way too stripped down and not punchy enough. I also happened to merge into another car really late at night after a long day of helping my friend move listening to this album. Believe it or not I was listening to "I Am Trying Very Hard To Be Here". No fucking lie. Saw them live earlier this year at a tiny club here in Jacksonville, FL. Like a 500 person maximum capacity. Didn't get any insanely obscure songs but the show was still great and was comparable to the first time I saw them in 04, unlike the No Snow Show in 06. Loved the Crash Love songs live. So much harder hitting and melodic. The album sounds dry and bland in my opinion. The songs are pretty good, not AFI's best but definitely a step in the right direction overall. But with the overhauled production on the album the songs all come sounding much too samey and safe. They sounded much more daring and full of energy live. I have an AFI personal greatest hits playlist on my iPod and 7 of the 87 are from Crash Love. I have come to appreciate the songs since experiencing them live but I am definitely more interested in what is next for the band. Where to go from here?
