I think he uses a mixture of different ones. It was said in a interview some where.

I know Acid Pro is one of them.

I'm pretty sure Acid Pro is one of them.

He uses 3 or 4 different programs.

A portion of an interview with Jade from PunkTV.ca....

QUOTE
PunkTV.ca: Now for all the gear heads including myself, your preferred programming instrument: Q Base, Logic, Acid, or Ableton Live?
I use a lot of stuff. Sometimes Iíll sequence an entire song, and for that I use a ton of different programs whether it be Reactor or Reason or Acid. I might do a little piece in Fruity Loops and I just use tons of software. I also use a bunch of hardware synthesizers and I have an MPC so I do old school beats that wayÖ it really just depends on the mood. Itís good to use different stuff and not just get stuck in one program.

PunkTV.ca: Whatís your oldest piece of gear?
I have a really old Roland synthesizer that I got kind of right when I first started learning how to program.

PunkTV.ca: Like an old 106?
Itís not even like a vintage one. Itís an XT60 so itís like a workstation basically. I donít really have any vintage gear. Some people are really stoked and interested on getting vintage keyboards but Iíve never really been that into it.

PunkTV.ca: With programs like Gigasampler, and with the access to all the great sounds that come with Reactor and some of the other programs that you mentioned like Fruity Loops, you really donít need to have all of those samples anymore. You can get them almost anywhere so instead of lugging around a bunch of gear; you can basically throw them all up on your Mac and carry that right?
Oh, of course. Technology, especially in music production, has come so far so quickly that you can make an entire record on a laptop these days. You still have to know how to write songs, and still have to be a songwriter, but it just has made it so easy, especially with electronic music.

PunkTV.ca: I remember back in the days when the only way to write music on a computer was with an Atari 512.
Iím kind of lucky that I started after that. That would have probably still been pretty exciting back thenÖ to even be able to make any kind of music on a computer.

Reason is probably the least confusing program out there imo. Routing is just like routing with physical devices with cables and stuff. They really put a lot into the graphics.

No, it mimicks what real hardware actually looks like. That's what's so cool about it. Like I said, routing is just like routing in the physical world. If all you know is Fruity Loops, then most other things probably will seem confusing. I have toyed around with it and I have to say I don't think much of it. No credible artist uses it. Only 14yo bedroom DJs, Jade, and Soulja Boy.

Personally I don't think Reason on its own is that great. There's no real audio involved; it's only a glorified MIDI sequencer. It's better used in conjuction with an actual DAW.

I like Reason because you can actually modify your sound to make it your own, not some preset junk your stuck with in programs such as garageband. It has it's own presets, but I don't use them. As mentioned, it mimics real synths with oscillators, LFOs and such. I love the real instrument refills though. Basically they take an instrument, for example a piano, and with half a dozen mics (ribbon, ambient, etc) they record every note held down till it fades away naturally at different velocities. It results in 1.5 gigs of crystal clear sound.
However, Reason lacks in audio recording capabilities, although it can import prerecorded clips, and with the use of Recycle you can make a good sliced loop, or just import small clips using NNXT.

I think Jade would use Acid in his early stages of making music, for fooling around and testing ideas. For electronic music making from scratch, it's not that great.

And by the way, if any of you want to try to make your own electronic music (which is why i assume you asked what Jade uses) you HAVE TO get a midi controller, or its going to be quite tedious and discouraging for beginners. Trust me, I speak from experience.

Well, if you want to make GOOD music you have to learn it, it's not that hard, playing around with the sliders and knobs gives you audible differences, so it's not like your changing things having no clue what difference it made. The hardest part is visually trying to see the waveform your creating after manipulating everything.

thats kinda harsh
like, even though its not like the most famous program, its still a pretty damn good one
if you learn how to use it efficiently you can make some pretty tight shit with it

ahem:

"I'm sorry but their later work such as "save roe" has had profound effects on society. they have a voice, and theyre just trying to voice it. i think they're fantastic. so many groups today make meaningless music such as falling in love with strippers or being hotter than someone else's girlfriend but SIQ TRIBAL AUDIO isn't just about getting chicks or something like that. they address important and the real life issues of today such as a woman's right to chose whether or not she wants an abortion, british stereotypes and culture [i.e. with the beef crumpets], and addressing satanism and how it fits in with society and music today and other peoples stereotypes and reactions to it. why siq tribal audio even examines themself in the context of music and society today by naming their own song after themselves. they're trying to stay posi and give other people belief in themselves with messages like "You're SIQ!" i think they're fantasic sir, and i think you're lacking taste."

followed up by

"it's more than just vocals, read the lyrics, they're deep and thought provoking and ask kids to take action and to fight for their rights. and its not just their lyrics...but the music itself makes me feel and it has changed my life. when im sad, i beat box some of their beats and suddenly i dont feel like slashing my wrists anymore. i dont want to die young and save myself. i want to live on and listen to siq tribal audio."

Fruity Loops may be user friendly, easy to use and you get some sort of end result, but if you are going to bother to make music on your computer, why not go with something better that gives you a better result? It is extremely far from being an analog synth, whereas with Reason and other professional programs, it's probably the closest thing to an analog synth you can get without having an actual physical synth in front of you.
